Three-and-a-half years ago I packed my mom’s van up with my favorite things with my college check-list complete and a few hours later arrived on campus. That first week was the worst week of my entire life. I didn’t have any friends, wasn’t very social and had a roommate from Hell. I wanted nothing more than to drop out and go home where I was comfortable, where I had friends, where I would never get out of my small town.

Another football player charged in sporting goods theft
On Sept. 18, Castleton State College’s wide receiver and former basketball player, Mark Comstock, was arrested and charged for his involvement in a string of retail thefts from Dick’s Sporting Goods in Rutland Town, according to a Vermont State Police press release. Comstock, 22, of Rutland, is one of six Castleton football players suspended from the program for their alleged association with the thefts, the release stated.

The two, along with four other yet unnamed players, have been suspended from the team indefinitely for their alleged roles in the thefts. “State Police responded to Dick’s Sporting Goods in Rutland Town after State Police learned that a Dick’s Sporting Goods employee was believed to be aiding a customer with theft of merchandise,” the release read.

I am a senior in college and I have always had a passion for writing. I went into college as a declared English major, took a journalism class and fell in love. It combines my entire personality. I'm an avid snowboarder and have been for the last 6 years; hence why I chose to go to school in Vermont (20 minutes from Killington!). I'm the oldest in my family, the only girl and come from a single-parent house-hold. My mother made sure we understood how important education was, especially being a woman. Fortunate for her I love learning and I love school. I've been on the Dean's list every semester of my college career. I am currently the editor of my college newspaper and a part of Phi Eta Sigma (Freshman Honor Society) as well as the women and gender studies honor society which I chose for a minor. I plan to go on to get my masters when I graduate in December and eventually my doctorate.
